Asterisk is an open-source PBX system.

Open Source means: It's free for the download

Open Source means: No vendor lock-in. There are dozens of vendors to choose from.

Open Source means: No more expensive and unreliable phone technicians. If you don't like your current technician, just find another one!

We are using a free Trixbox CE system in our own office and will be happy to set it up for you, too. Due to better technical support and the amount of labor involved, for customer use, we generally recommend Asterisk-based added-value phone systems from reputable vendors such as Digium (Switchvox) or Fonality (Trixbox Pro).
